“At Night” presents a charged interplay between light and darkness. The strong contrast of light and shadow reflects shifting inner moods and subtle tension.
The expressive blend of calming blues and energetic yellows creates an atmosphere suspended between quiet reflection and emerging movement, like a nocturnal space where thoughts and impulses surface at once.
Gallery Description
“At Night” combines vivid yellow areas with deep blues and greys, establishing a strong contrast of light and shadow.
The expressive mood created by the mix of calming blue and energetic yellow gives the abstract work both depth and dynamism. The piece invites viewers into a nocturnal, atmospheric color world.

Some paintings refuse to be rushed. This was one of them.
This piece has been an evolving conversation for quite some time — layers added, taken away, reconsidered, and rebuilt. What began as a simple composition slowly revealed new directions, new tensions, and deeper spaces within the abstraction.
Through this shifting process, the work asked for patience. Shapes moved. Colours changed. Edges softened and sharpened again. Only now does it feel resolved — not because it is perfect, but because the depth within the composition has finally found its balance.
Sometimes a painting isn’t finished when the artist decides. It’s finished when the painting decides.

My subconscious just outed itself as the real artist in the room.
When I started this piece, I wasn’t happy with my first colour choices — something that happens more often than not. So I let go of the plan entirely and began reaching for different colours, layer by layer, until the composition finally felt right.
Art doesn’t always clock out when I do. Even at night, my mind keeps sorting, processing… comparing. And that’s when it hit me. Photos I took at an event in December 2025 carry almost the exact colour palette I’ve landed on here. Unintentionally. Unconsciously. Perfectly aligned.
Creativity is strange, humbling, and sometimes overwhelming — in the best way.

With 11 official languages and a rich mix of ethnic groups,
South Africa—my second home—embodies the very essence of intercultural connection. I'm especially inspired by the women who build bridges in everyday life with strength, grace, pride, and beauty.
In these paintings, I honour them: bold, adorned, unshaken, and deeply unifying.
